Vendor Selection Checklist
When looking for a billing company, keep these questions in mind:
- Does the vendor benchmark their employees?
- Does the vendor offer personal experience to you and your clients?
- Does the vendor employ industry personnel such as EMTs and Paramedics in their organization?
- Does the vendor specialize in EMS billing or is the vendor a general billing agency that has more than one focus?
- Does the vendor have professional liability insurance?
- Does the vendor provide you with HIPAA and Medicare compliance programs for your staff?
- Does the vendor supply web-based EMS documentation for your staff?
- Does the vendor supply free yearly documentation programs with continuing education credits to your staff?
- Does the vendor schedule monthly, quarterly or as needed meetings with you to explain the various reports?
- Does the vendor process all claims within 5 business days?
- Does the vendor process all rejected or denied claims within 10 days?
- Does the vendor have an 800 number for your patients to use when calling the billing service in regards to their bill?
- Does the vendor offer bi-lingual services via phone and bills?
